Integrating AWS Secrets Manager into a OpenID Connect Workflow

OpenID Connect (OIDC) is an open standard that adds authentication to the OAuth 2.0 authorization framework. strongDM is a unified access management tool that uses OIDC to communicate with identity providers and integrates with AWS Secrets Manager to handle sensitive credentials such as passwords, tokens, and API keys.

AWS Secrets Manager is an Amazon service that securely stores, rotates and retrieves database credentials, OAuth tokens, API keys and other secrets throughout their lifecycle. It has built-in integration for Amazon RDS, Amazon Redshift, and Amazon DocumentDB. The strongDM proxy fetches credentials from AWS Secrets Manager, reinforcing the safe handling of those secrets. OpenID Connect is an authentication layer built on top of the OAuth 2.0 authorization framework. OIDC allows third-party applications to obtain basic end-user profile information as well as verify the identity of the end-user. strongDM communicates with identity providers using OpenIDConnect and other standardized authentication protocols.
