strongDM Appoints Former Palo Alto Networks Chief Cloud Officer, Tim Prendergast, to Senior Vice President, Sales

Seasoned cloud security leader will scale strongDM’s sales organization to meet the growing demand for secure infrastructure access management

Burlingame, CA - November 2, 2021- strongDM, the infrastructure access platform, announced today that industry veteran Tim Prendergast had joined the company as Senior Vice President of Sales. Prendergast brings over twenty years experience in cloud and security leadership across several industries, most recently at Palo Alto Networks. He will be responsible for scaling strongDM’s sales team to meet heightened market demand.

“strongDM is solving the biggest DevOps and security problem today: modernized access. Privileged Access Management (PAM) and Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions have let engineers suffer with broken, ramshackle methods for decades at the cost of their sanity,” says Prendergast. “The strongDM team built an elegant solution that makes working with modern infrastructure a magical experience for all types of engineers: software, security, and infrastructure. I'm excited to dive in with such a well-rounded group because they deeply understand and empathize with the pain felt by today's technology teams, and they've dedicated their careers to improving the quality of life of their peers.”

Prendergast joins strongDM with cloud, networking and security leadership experience across multiple companies, including Ingenuity, Ticketmaster, and McAfee. Prendergast led Adobe's cloud architecture team through their pivotal transition nearly a decade ago. He then founded Evident.io, where he leveraged his experience in building and operating cloud infrastructure at scale to modernize security for the cloud era. After he sold Evident.io to Palo Alto Networks, Prendergast was appointed to be their Chief Cloud Officer, making him the first to hold this position in a Fortune 1000 company. As a member of their C-suite, Prendergast defined the future of security.

“When I first met Tim, I was immediately struck by his ability to understand and relate to the needs of both security and infrastructure teams,” says Elizabeth Zalman, co-founder and CEO of strongDM. “Our buyer is discerning, and our sales approach has always been to listen, understand, and then respond. Tim’s unique background of founder, network architect, and cloud strategist is the perfect complement to our approach. I’m thrilled to have Tim on our management team.”

strongDM’s infrastructure access platform allows organizations of all sizes to securely connect any person or service to infrastructure. It enables technical staff to do jobs as efficiently as possible, while always exceeding audit and compliance mandates.

  • Implement least-privilege and role-based access controls, at scale
  • Enable DevOps to treat access “as code,” using Terraform

  • Crush their compliance woes with instant audit-readiness, thanks to net new observability provided by the only protocol-aware proxy
